Danbury community looks for answers after 14-year-old arrested in mall shooting: ‘Everyone in society should be concerned about that’

DANBURY — Mayor Joe Cavo on Tuesday credited the city police department for their quick apprehension of a local teen in last week’s shooting at the Danbury Fair mall, but said the fact that a 14-year-old was able to illegally obtain a gun gave him pause.

“Everyone in society should be concerned about that,” said Cavo in a phone interview Tuesday. “It’s really just a tragic set of circumstances when we’re living in a world where a 14-year-old can obtain a firearm.”
