Conversation About Guns @ Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, | Fairfield | Connecticut | United States

We would like to invite you to a public forum on gun violence prevention organized by CAGV and community members in Fairfield. The forum takes place this Thursday, February 22 from 7:30-9:00pm at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 986 Old Academy Road in Fairfield.

In the aftermath of the Parkland school shooting, many are asking what can you do; what’s happening in Connecticut; what progress have we made since Newtown; how are we addressing other types of gun violence, especially urban gun violence and suicide; what’s the relevance of November’s election?

To give you the answers you’re looking for, we’ll be joined by the Fairfield Chief of Police, representatives from the Fairfield Board of Education and leaders from CAGV and other gun violence prevention organizations. The forum is open to people from all communities.

The discussion will be followed by a “call to action” to write postcards to your state legislators asking them to vote yes on the two gun bills raised in the CT General Assembly Judiciary Committee just last week: bans on ghost guns and bump stocks.

Ghost guns are essentially do-it-yourself kits, widely available on the Internet, to make firearms at home while evading state and federal gun laws. Bump stocks and similar devices dramatically increase the rate of fire of semi-automatic firearms, practically allowing assault weapons to operate as machine guns.

Thank you for all the work you do to keep Connecticut safe.
