We were very pleased at the splendid turnout at our September 10th Hartford area luncheon at the Pond House Café in West Hartford. This was our second annual Hartford area luncheon and we were extremely gratified in seeing how our attendance continues to build. Our special thanks to CAGV Board member Sarah Raskin for her organizing skills in chairing the event as well as to the members of her committee who helped to make this a fun and informative occasion.
Under Secretary for Criminal Justice Policy and Planning Mike Lawlor and State Senate President Martin Looney gave fascinating and informative addresses on two issues prominent in the minds of gun safety advocates. Mr. Lawlor spoke on programs, such as Project Longevity, aimed at reducing gun homicides in our cities. Senator Looney addressed the very timely topic of the relationship of firearms to domestic violence and talked of current legislative proposals aimed at doing a better job protecting victims of domestic abuse. The speakers also gave frank and straightforward answers to some very provocative questions from the audience during the Q and A segment.
We are especially grateful to all of our supporters who attended and we look forward to seeing all of you again next year.
